Many children are negatively impacted by an environment that undermines their ability to access food, eat and exercise properly. Our academic advisors and professional staff have developed comprehensive school-based and after-school activities for youth, as well as training materials for teachers and community based groups to improve the eating and physical activity behaviors of our youth.
The Community Mobilization Program at UCCE Alameda works with community-based organizations, government agencies, and local residents to build strong and sustainable regional food systems that increase access to, and consumption of, affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food in Alameda County.
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program for youth (EFNEP-Youth) targets two primary audiences: low-income youth and low-income families with young children.
