Internship Opportunities

UCCE in Alameda County offers both graduate and upper division undergraduate students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in the community, solving issues related to agriculture, environment, and health. One of the goals of the internship program is to increase student awareness of career opportunities with Cooperative Extension. Internship and volunteer opportunities are designed to improve skills and knowledge of interns. At the conclusion of the internship period, interns will be expected to submit a report summarizing their experiences.


 


Internship Volunteer Positions Available


 


Nutrition Educator & Trainer


Train teachers and community-based educators on nutrition and physical activity using UC Cooperative Extension materials and information. This person will work with under the supervision of the Project Coordinators.


Event Coordinator Assistant


Work with community partners in organizing nutrition/physical activity/gardening/food security events to inform and educate the public about the importance of eating properly and practicing physical activities. Preferable: Able to work on weekends and some evenings.


Program Representative


Represent the University at events and meetings; build partnerships and promote the UCCE nutrition, food security, and gardening programs. Develop marketing campaign materials, brochures, websites, etc. Preferable: Interest in working with the media.


Site Evaluator


Conduct on-site evaluations, assessments, focus groups at different schools, organizations, and meetings. Enter data and prepare reports; make presentations of the results.  Preferable: Analytical and organizational skills.


Resource and Library Organizer


Coordinate, organize a resource library for the public to use as reference. Update resources, devise a filing system and create a loaning process. Create a website database for teachers, providers, and the public to use.


Research and Evaluation


Work with program coordinators conducting evaluation of the programs and assist specialists and other technical advisors in implementation and design of evaluation instruments.  Provide orientation and assistance.
